The homeowners loved their home but were ready for a refresh. They decided to maintain the classic, traditional look that was in keeping with the style of the house but wanted to update it with new pieces and fabrics.
The living room is open to the dining room that leads out to a deck equipped with a full outdoor kitchen and bar area with hot tub. The monochromatic color scheme is enlivened with textures of velvet, linen, and wool and is furnished with both new and cherished antique items. The classically styled seating was reupholstered with contemporary fabrics in herringbone, floral and geometric patterns for a fresh look.
The guest suite is appointed with an upholstered bed with a mix of pillows and comforters for guests’ comfort and has a separate sitting area with window seat.
The warm tones of the rest of the first floor continue in kitchen and bath. The kitchen features a custom marble subway tile backsplash with an iron medallion that is picture framed above the range and there is a dining area in the sun drenched corner for casual meals. Though compact in size, the bathroom is elegant with a custom mirror above the pedestal sink and beadboard wainscoting.
On the second floor, the master bedroom is a restful sanctuary of soft shades of green, blue, and cream with trim painted the same color as the walls in a semi-gloss finish and the ceiling painted a gray blue. The nursery is a cheerful, light filled space full of color with beadboard wainscoting, a pale blue painted ceiling, and whimsical patterned drapes. The bathroom is large, sunny, and feminine.
